I need help. How do I make it stop?
Every morning the new person at work bombards me with a million questions and “HOW ARE YOU!!!! GOOD MORNING!!!!!!” There’s nothing wrong with being nice, don’t get me wrong, but I need about 15 minutes to get settled into my work day. Check my email, shake off the subway ride, get my Barry’s tea going…I have a method, new girl, and you need to calm it down.
At first I thought I was the only person who felt this way since I’m considered to be grumpy once in a while, but it turns out that 90% of the gang here can’t take it either. It’s like being in a dorm room again. She’s got a moving picture frame thing on her desk. A whiteboard message board hanging up. She invites her friends from her old department to come over and hang out and eat our Halloween candy. The only thing that seems to be missing is my poster of Legolas and walking down the hill to Corey Union to get some Friendly’s ice cream.
She’s like the RA in college that constantly tried to get dorm slumber parties going in the basement rec room but only the weird girls would show up. No matter how many times the slumber party failed, she kept going.
It seems that she’s indestructible and I should get used to the 80 bajillion questions in the morning. Then again, I can’t imagine anyone wanting to talk to my face in the morning because I look like a nightmare.
However, she looks like this every morning, so I have a feeling I’m going to lose this battle:
